Tarique launches electioneering from Sylhet today

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will launch his party's formal campaign from Sylhet today (Thursday) for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The BNP leader along with his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman landed in Sylhet Wednesday night and visited the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA).
He is scheduled to address a series of public rallies in Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj on the first day of his election campaign, according to the party sources.
Tarique Rahman last visited Sylhet in 2004 while he was serving as the Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP.
His advisor Mahdi Amin gave this information at a press briefing at the Chairperson's office in Gulshan in the city on Wednesday.
However, Tarique Rahman's visit has created a lot of enthusiasm and excitements among the party leaders and workers.
He is also scheduled to join rallies in Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi and Narayanganj.
Following the allocation of symbols to candidates by the Election Commission, the formal campaign for the February 12 national election begins today (Thursday).
Tarique Rahman will start his election campaign by attending the rally at Sylhet Alia Madrasa ground this morning.
After that, he will hold a rally at Sherpur Ainpur Sports Ground in Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila in the afternoon.
He will participate in a rally at the proposed new Upazila Parishad ground in Shayestaganj Upazila of Habiganj district.
The party chief will also join an election rally at Kuttapara Football Stadium in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria district and at Bhairab Stadium in Kishoreganj in the afternoon. From there, he will participate in a rally adjacent to Narsingdi Municipal Park.
On way to Dhaka, he will join a rally in Araihazar of Narayanganj district or Gausia area of Rupganj.
