Tarique to join Khaleda on Saudi trip
Saturday, 19 July 2014
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be joined by her London-based elder son Tarique Rahman on the Saudi Arabia trip to perform Umrah.
It will be their second meeting since 2008. The first time was during Khaleda's London visit in 2011, according to a news agency.
She will leave for Saudi Arabia at 9pm Saturday in an Emirates flight, her Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said.
Tarique along with his wife and daughter will join Khaleda at Dubai International Airport, he told bdnews24.com.
The BNP senior vice-chairman, accused in several cases at home, has been staying in the UK since 2008 after securing bail from the Supreme Court.
Khaleda, her family and the entourage will be staying in Saudi Arabia as the royal guests of King Abdullah.
She will go to Medina first and will visit the shrine of Prophet Muhammad there during a two-day stay.
Khaleda will then go to Makkah and perform Umrah. She will spend the night of Shab-e-Qadr saying prayers at Al Masjid Al Haram.
The former prime minister is scheduled to return home on July 27 before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
