Tarique wants Hasina to be questioned over Zia murder
Thursday, 12 June 2014
BNP's Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman has demanded that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be questioned in remand to crack ;the mystery' of the assassination of his father, late president Ziaur Rahman. Tarique, the elder son of Ziaur Rahman and party chairperson Khaleda Zia, came up with the demand at a discussion in Malaysia. BNP's Malaysia chapter organised the discussion at Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur to mark Ziaur Rahman's 33rd death anniversary on Wednesday. Addressing the programme Tarique apparently shot back to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent claim that late Ziaur Rahman, who founded the BNP in 1978, was involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975. The premier on June 2 had said Zia's death had saved him and if he were alive he would have been accused of the murder of the nation's founding father. Tarique went to Kuala Lumpur from London to participate in the BNP Malaysia unit's programme. He has been staying in London since 2008 for treatment. The programme was also attended by the party's vice-chairman Shah Moazzem Hossain, former MP Nurul Islam Moni, Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal leader Abdus Salam Azad and former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Shahidul Islam Babul, according to bdnews24.com.
