State Minister for Home Shamsul Haq Tuku Saturday said BNP leader Tarique Rahman will be arrested as soon as he returns home and brought to the dock in corruption cases, reports UNB.
Addressing an Awami League (AL) organisational meeting at Chatmohar upazila town in Pabna, Tuku said Tarique, who had plundered immense wealth of the country during the BNP regime, is hiding abroad to avoid trial.
Tarique, eldest son BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and senior joint secretary general of BNP, is accused in about a dozen corruption and tax-dodging cases. He was detained during the caretaker government and later set free for medical treatment abroad.
The state minister also said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed by the conspirators in aid of the war criminals. The process of trial of the war criminals has already started to meet the expectation of the people.
