Tarique's release on bail may hit snags
Monday, 1 September 2008
BNP leader Tarique Rahman's release from jail on bail may hit snags as the government and the Anti-Corruption Commission both decided to invoke the vacation Appellate Division's prowess for stay on the High Court orders. At least three separate applications for stay were filed Sunday with the Chamber Court, a source in the Attorney General Office said Sunday. The stay applications will come up for hearing at the vacation bench of Justice M Joynul Abedin today (Monday), the day when the elder son of detained ex-PM Khaleda Zia was envisaged to be set free. — UNB
