Task Force drives against polythene by June

KHULNA, May 12 (BSS): A nine member task force was formed here recently to lunch anti- polythene drive in Khulna by first week of June.
The taskforce has been entrusted with the responsibility of taking action against the polythene traders, producers, marketers, sellers and users.
The task force was formed at a meeting arranged by the Directorate of Environment (DoE) of Khulna division to watch polythene use and intervene regularly if there is any attempt to produce polythene and its trading and selling.
Director of DoE of Khulna division Dr Mallick Anwar Hossain is the convenor the task force while assistant secretary (administration) of DoE Eshrat Jahan has been made its member secretary, DoE sources said.
Representatives of Khulna district administration and police, two executive magistrates of DoE and Khulna City Corporation(KCC), chief of the DoE office in each district of the division, associate professor of B L college Dr Biswas Shaheen Ahmed and office chief of BSS in Khulna S M Zahid Hossain have been made members of the task force.
Despite the ban on polythene production, marketing and selling, a section of dishonest traders are running polythene business across the country.
While talking, Dr Mallick Anwar Hossain told the news agency, the government has taken decision to form the task forces across the country to campaign against the use and trading of polythene as it is harming environment.
