'Taskforce soon to revise secondary curriculum'

Education Adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman Tuesday said the secondary level academic curriculum would be revised with a view to producing skilled manpower, reports BSS.
A high-powered taskforce would be formed soon to this end, he said.
He was addressing as the chief guest at a seminar on "National Academic Curriculum and Counselling" organised by the Secondary Education Sector Development Project (SESPD) of the Education Ministry in the city's BIAM auditorium.
Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Habibur Rahman presided over the seminar. Additional Secretary of the Education Ministry M Muzammel Haq Khan, Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board M Mosir Uddin, educationists Moniruzzaman Mian, Abdullah Abu Sayeed and M Safiullah, and IT specialist Mostafa Jabbar, among others, attended the seminar.
The adviser said the situation demanded that our academic curriculum be made pragmatic and suitable for present time.
Emphasising the need for acquiring knowledge of information technology, Hossain Zillur said there was no alternative to revising the curriculum to ensure sustainable development.
