A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, former energy adviser, on a four-day remand in a murder case filed with Badda Police Station in Dhaka.
Judge of the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka, Md Ali Haider, passed the order after hearing a prayer filed by police for sending him on 10-day remand.
General Register officer (GRO) of the Badda Police Station cases confirmed the court order to the FE.
The murder case was filed over the death of Suman Sikdar, 31, in the city's Badda area during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement on July 19.
On August 20, Masuma, mother of the victim, filed the murder case with Badda Police Station against Hasina and 179 others.
Tawfiq-e-Elahi was arrested from the capital's Gulshan area on Tuesday night. He was appointed Hasina's energy adviser in 2009 and served in the position till August 5 this year.
