Tax cards for limited number of high taxpayers likely

Finance Minister proposed to provide tax cards to a limited number of high taxpayers that would allow the holders special privileges at the time of admission into government hospitals and air travel or any other mode of transportation with VIP status.
AMA Muhith said, "We are contemplating on working out some reforms in the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for capacity building and strengthening of the board has become absolutely essential."
"A team swill be formed with experts to make the existing income tax laws and regulations time befitting. Restructuring of manpower and other facilities of income tax department will be finalised by the first quarter of the next fiscal year."
"Tax calculating software will be installed on the website of National Board of Revenue (NBR) to facilitate calculation of tax by taxpayers."
The minister said that measures will be taken to upgrade the post of Director General of Central Intelligence Cell to Grade II with a view to intensifying prevention of tax evasion.
