Tax fair: A praiseworthy step
Sunday, 21 September 2014
I was happy to see enthusiasm around the tax fair. It has now become an annual event which is helping taxpayers to submit their tax return without any hassle. It is surprising that no one wants "bokshis" when the taxpayers go to submit return which was a usual custom in the past. The officers are helpful and courteous. I hope the NBR will make the tax offices more taxpayer-friendly. It is further heartening to note that while submitting returns the taxpayers get a bag of goodies. I liked the bag of goodies and heartily thank the NBR for taking such a unique step. Such fair will drive away the fear people have in their subconscious mind about tax office. I saw a great crowd in the fair and they were paying their taxes and collecting tax related information and everyone was happy as they were helped promptly. I hope the NBR will keep arranging such fair every year and bring innovative changes in the taxpaying system. Tax paying system should be made easier while there should be a mechanism so that the tax evaders can not escape. The whole process should be transparent so that unscrupulous tax officials and taxpayers do not get any chance for connivance of misdeeds.
