The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has dropped the single- window concept aimed at online issuance of TIN and BIN through website of RJSC as it found the system will trigger hassle of corporate taxpayers.
The revenue board has decided to issue online TIN (Taxpayers' Identification Number) and BIN (Business Identification Number) through its own website rather than using the site of registrar of joint stock companies (RJSC).
The board has taken the decision to backtrack from the move following strong opposition by tax commissioners at a board meeting, chaired by NBR chairman Dr Nasir Uddin Ahmed.
Income tax commissioners have found that the single-window system will make the tax payment system more complex as the taxpayers will have to furnish information to the RJSC website to get TIN from tax offices, said a senior tax official.
There are no such infrastructure and logistics at the field offices of the income tax department to explore RJSC data and issue TIN with its reference, he said.
NBR will establish a national data centre on priority basis to receive online application for TIN and BIN, said the tax official.
