Tax-related cases to be resolved in dist headquarters

RAJSHAHI, Mar 15: Tax Ombudsman Khairuzzaman Chowdhury has said, tax-related cases will be resolved in the district headquarters and the people will not need to visit Dhaka for any hearing of the tax related cases. However, he mentioned, only the specific allegations in this connection will be accepted.
Khairuzzaman Chowdhury was speaking as the chief guest at a meeting held with the business leaders of Rajshahi at the auditorium of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry(RCCI) Thursday morning.
Presided over by Hasen Ali, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Rashidul Ahsan Chowdhury, adviser of the Tax Ombudsman office, AS Zahir, commissioner of Taxes, Rajshahi and Golam Nabi and Shah Alam Khan Chowdhury, customs commissioners, Rajshahi.
Khairuzzaman Chowdhury said, every one should build the mentality of paying taxes. He added, a neutral tax commission has been formed so that the Tax Ombudsman can work independently. It was the aim of the Tax Ombusman not to harass the tax payers rather to encourage them to pay taxes, he said further.
