Taxman Enamul's illegal assets up for seizure

A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered the attachment of a nine-storey house, two flats and three commercial spaces owned by Mohammad Enamul Haque, commissioner of the Customs Valuation and Internal Audit Department.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge As-Sams Jaglul Hossain issued this order after hearing a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to official sources, the ACC filed a case against Customs Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Haque on July 31 last year for allegedly acquiring illegal assets worth Tk 97.6 million.
A petition was filed to attach a nine-storey house in Block G of Bashundhara residential area, two flats in Banani and Kakrail, three commercial spaces and a car parking space in Gulshan area of the capital.
After the hearing, the court granted the petition.
Additionally, the court ordered the seizure of Enamul's land in Gazipur and Badda.
A few days ago, the court ordered the attachment of 866 decimals of land and four flats owned by National Board of Revenue (NBR) member Md Matiur Rahman and his wife and children.
Furthermore, the court has recently ordered the seizure of assets belonging to NBR First Secretary Quazi Abu Mahmud Faisal and his family members.
