TCB launches sale of essentials in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 10 (BSS): The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) launched sale of essential goods at fair prices ahead of the holy month of Ramadan through authorised TCB dealers in all eight districts of Rangpur division from Tuesday.
Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu formally inaugurated the sale of the essentials at a ceremony arranged by the TCB in front of the City Bhaban as chief guest.
RCC Councilors Mahbubar Rahman Manju (Ward No-21), Sekendar Ali (Ward No-23), Hafiz Ahmed Chhuttu (Ward No-24) and Abdur Razzaque (Ward No-11), acting president of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin and Assistant Chief Executive for Rangpur Region of TCB Sujauddowla Sarker were present.
President of Rangpur Dealers' Association Mohiuddin Sarker, its General Secretary Faruk Ahmed, President of Rangpur District Crockery Traders' Association Ali Hossain Mollah and General Secretary of Satmatha Traders' Association Taufiqur Rahmna Tapu also attended.
TCB official Sujauddowla Sarker said the government launched sale of the essential commodities at fair prices among the common people to keep prices of the essentials under control during the upcoming holy Ramadan.
A total of 365 TCB dealers have been selling these daily essentials in Rangpur division including 54 in Rangpur district. Of them, five dealers have been selling the essential commodities by trucks in Rangpur city area.
Besides, the daily essentials are being sold using two mobile trucks in each of the district headquarters and rest of the dealers are selling the goods using mobile trucks everywhere at the upazila and union levels of the division.
The regional officers of TCB have been monitoring the open marketing process by mobile trucks and sale by the authorized dealers in all eights districts in Rangpur division, he added.
The five mobile trucks have started selling these essentials at Shapla Chattar, CO Bazaar, City Bazaar, DC Office and Mahiganj Memorial Hospital points in Rangpur city.
Under the programme, sugar is being sold at Taka 39 per kg, `Chhola' at Taka 44 and bottled soybean oil at Taka 107 and lentil at Taka 65 per kg by the TCB dealers.
The TCB approved dealers have been selling the essential commodities among the common people in Pirgachha, Kawnia, Pirganj, Mithapukur, Taraganj, Badarganj, Pirgachha, Kawnia and Gangachhara upazilas of Rangpur as in other districts.
