TCB starts selling goods in city today

The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is set to begin its sale of some selected essential commodities at subsidised prices for low-income households in the capital today (Thursday) for the month of September.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will formally inaugurate the sale of rice, edible oil, lentil and sugar through a programme on the T&T Field near Khamarbari area at 10:00 am, a statement said.
According to it, the countrywide sale of commodities for 10 million family cardholders began on Tuesday.
Each family cardholder can purchase up to five kgs of rice at Tk 30 each kg, two litres of soybean/rice bran oil at Tk 100 per litre, two kgs of lentil at TK 60 each kg, and one kg sugar at Tk 70.
In addition to own items like edible oil and lentil, the TCB has been selling rice at subsidised price since July.
The TCB dealers will operate the sales activities from their shops or selected spots as per schedule with support of the city and local government authorities.
