Tea market fluctuates
Wednesday, 16 March 2011
The weekly tea sale Tuesday saw a fluctuation amid the end of season types of tea. However, a few clean teas on offer were a strong demand but all others declined in prices following quality. Blendom were selective and operated only on good liquoring varieties but Loose tea buyers lent fairly good support along with an exporter for Pakistan.
Good liquoring Dusts were again a dearer market following strong competition.
CTC LEAF: 20,173 packages, 27 packages of New Season and 1,155 packages of Old season on offer met with quite a good demand with prices following quality.
BROKENS: There were only a few clean teas on offer which were strongly completed for at dearer rates. The remainder was mostly very plain, end of season types which were difficult of sale and recorded a decline of Tk 10 to Tk 20 over last. There were also fair withdrawals in this category.
FANNINGS: Similarly there were only a few clean Fannings on offer which met strong competition at dearer prices. The rest which were mostly end of season in character met with some interest at lower rates often declining by Tk 10 to Tk 20. There were also some withdrawals in this category.
CTC DUST: 2,676 packages of offer met with a fairly good demand. Select few lines of good liquoring varieties met with a strong demand and were dearer. All others which were mostly end of season types were a lower market with fair withdrawals. Internal market lent a fairly good support.
