Tea sale sees improved demand
Thursday, 3 March 2011
The weekly tea sale Tuesday witnessed an improved demand from both Blenders and Loose Tea buyers that resulted in more teas being sold compared to the last sale.
According to a market report, a small weight of good liquoring teas continued to meet with good competition at firm rates. End of season types were again discounted but more teas sold this week.
Dusts were a better market in line with quality.
CTC LEAF: 30,850 packages and 178 packages of Old Season on offer met with a better demand.
BROKENS: A few good liquoring Brokens met with a fairly strong demand and were generally firm to slightly dearer particularly the smaller varieties which sold between Tk 190 and Tk 195 All others were an easier market especially the end of season varieties which were again difficult of sale.
FANNINGS: Select good liquoring Fannings met with an improved demand and were firm to dearer and these sold between Tk 192 and Tk 198. Medium and plainer varieties were once again easier whilst end of season types declined further with fair withdrawals.
CTC DUST: 3,808 packages on offer met with a good demand. Select few good liquoring RDs/PDs met with a strong demand and were fully firm to slightly dearer. Others were slightly easier by up to Tk 5 in line with quality. CDs were also a lower market. End of season varieties were again often neglected. Blenders were more active fairly good support from the Loose Tea buyers.
