Teachers\\\' body makes quick buck with exam business

SHARIATPUR, Sept 17 (UNB): Several hundred students in different educational institutions of Sadar Upazila are being trapped into taking an examination in the name of second model test arranged by Shariatpur Sadar Upazila Teachers Association.
Students alleged that local teachers under the teachers association have taken a new strategy to make a fast buck by forcing them into appearing at the examination, in a flagrant disregard for the government rules.
The examination that started at some 20 high schools in the Upazila on September 14 simultaneously will end on September 21.
Students of class VI, VII and IX in the 20 schools are taking the examination with similar questions in the name of second model test.
The students also said the government has introduced two systems of examinations-semi-final and final-in all schools across the country but they are being compelled to take part in the second model test as well as semi-final and final examinations.
The teachers are killing students' time by arranging unnecessary tests as they are forced to take preparation for the second model test before their semi-final examination ends, they observed.
