Teachers' salary to be raised in next budget: Nahid

GOPALGANJ, Dec 21 (BSS): Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said the government would increase salary of teachers in the next budget.
He was speaking at a discussion on the Kotalipara Union Institution premises under Kotalipara Upazila of the district Sunday.
"We want to increase dignity of teachers by increasing their salary", he added.
Nahid said the government would frame a separate pay scale for the teachers in order to improve the quality of education. He said salary of teachers should be increased for ensuring quality education in the country.
Member of advisory council of Central Awami League (AL) Kazi Akram Hossain, eminent social worker Sheikh Kabir Hossain, headmaster of the school Nanda Kumar Gupta, among others, took part in the discussion with Poura Mayor HM Ahedul Islam in the chair.
Director general of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Prof Nomanur Rashid Chowdhury, chairman of Dhaka Board Prof Fahima Khatun and assistant private secretary to the president of AL Dr Awlad Hossain also attended the discussion.
