Teachers urged to build children as worthy citizens

Political Adviser to the Prime Minister HT Imam urged Friday teachers to dedicate themselves to groom children as worthy citizen through providing quality education, reports UNB.
"Children are future of a country. So they should be given proper education to move the country ahead," he told a function organised by Bangladesh Government Primary Teachers Association at the IE,B auditorium in the city.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman, lawmaker Fazilatun Nesa Indira, primary and mass education secretary Akhtar Hossain and director general of Directorate of Primary Education Shyamal Kanti Ghosh, among others, addressed the function with president of the teachers association Abdul Awal Talukdar in the chair.
Speaking on the occasion, Imam said the present government has set a target to turn the country into a middle income nation by 2021. The government is working with utmost sincerity to fulfill the target, he added. Mr Imam said the teachers' community can contribute to nation-building activities by performing their duties properly.
Mostafizur Rahman said primary education sector witnessed a notable success during the last five years. "We are giving a special attention to primary education to improve overall standard of education," he added.
