The United States wants to expand and strengthen relationship and cooperation in all socio-economic sectors of Bangladesh, newly appointed US Ambassador Dan W Mozena said Thursday, reports UNB. "I'm here with a mandate to deepen, widen and strengthen relationships in all socio-economic sectors in Bangladesh," he said, while presenting credentials to President M Zillur Rahman at Bangabahaban. Mozena told the President that he would form a team who will work to find out the sectors in Bangladesh where the US support and cooperation are needed. The new ambassador also said he will work to promote Bangladesh as a peaceful, healthy, prosperous and developed country. During the meeting, he mentioned that he would work hard to promote trade and cooperation between the two countries. Describing Bangladesh as the second largest supplier of readymade garments to USA, Mozena said he would extend his all-out cooperation to encourage American entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh. "Bangladesh is well known to me," he said, as he had already visited all the 64 districts of the country. "Most of the people here are creative, dynamic and energetic." Mozena said: "I think it (Bangladesh) is not a small country, it is a big country in terms of population, prosperity, progress and other resources." He added: "I'm honoured that President Barak Obama has chosen me as (US) Ambassador to Bangladesh." Welcoming the new US Ambassador to Bangabhaban, President M Zillur Rahman said an excellent relation has been prevailing between Bangladesh and USA. He urged the US entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh in order to increase the volume of trade between the two friendly countries. The President assured his all out support to the ambassador in the discharge of his professional duties. Secretaries to the President's office and senior officials of the Foreign Ministry were present. Earlier, the Ambassador was given guard of honour by a contingent of the President Guard Regiment at Bangabhaban premises.
