Teams draw of Federation Cup Football held

The preliminary round draw of the 23rd Federation Cup Football was held through a formal ceremony at the Bangladesh Football Federation Sunday, reports UNB.
Rahmatganj MFS, Chittagong Abahani Limited and Bangladesh Police are placed in Group A while Brothers Union Club, Chittagong Mohammedan SC and Victoria SC in group B.
The group C consists of rejuvenated Muktijoddha Sangsad KC, Farashganj SC, Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Navy while new powerhouse Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Arambagh KS, Youngmen's Club Fakirerpool and BKSP are placed in group D.
Fourteen teams including 13 participating teams in last year's Bangladesh League and six invited teams will take part in the meet that will kick off on October 8 at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
On the opening day, Chittagong Abahani Limited will take on Bangladesh Police at 3 pm.
Last year's league champion Abahani Limited, runners-up Mohammedan SC, 3rd place decider Sheikh Russell KC and 4th place finisher Feni Soccer Club have been placed in group A,B,C and D respectively. The four teams will directly play in the second round.
After the league basis preliminary round the second round will be knock out match with participation of eight teams.
The championships will receive a cash award Tk 5,00,000 and the runners-up Tk 3,00,000.
The best player and the highest scorer of the tournament will each get Tk 25,000.
Besides, crests will go to fair play team, man of the match for two semifinals and finals.
