Teenage girl commits suicide in Sylhet

A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide in Alir village under Goainghat Upazila in Sylhet district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Arina Begum, 16, daughter of Junab Ali, a resident of Alir village. Quoting family members, police said Arina, who had reportedly remained obsessed with depression since her family fixed the date of her marriage, which they arranged against her will, hanged herself with the ceiling of her room around 11:30am. MA Hye, officer-in-charge of Goainghat Police Station, confirmed the incident, according to UNB.
