Teenager found hanging in police custody

A teenage boy was found hanging at Boalia Model Police Station in Rajshahi city early Saturday. Although police claimed that Ruhul Amin, 18, son of Najer Ali of Namobhadra area of the city, committed suicide, his family members alleged that police tortured him to death. Saidur Rahman Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Boalia Model Police Station, said police arrested Ruhul along with 250 gram of hemp from Bhadra Kitchen Market area of the city on Friday afternoon. He was found hanging from the ventilator of the toilet around 12:10pm on Saturday. The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, a three-member probe panel has been formed to look into the incident, according to a news agency.
