Teesta march to protect national interest: BNP
Monday, 21 April 2014
Claiming their Tuesday’s long march towards Teesta Barrage in Nilphamari a programme for protecting the national interest, BNP on Monday called upon the government not to do politics over it. “Our long march towards Teesta is not against the government. It’s a movement for realising people’s fair rights,” said BNP standing committee member Rafiqul Islam Miah. He made the remarks while distributing leaflets in front of the Jatiya Press Club to mobilise public support in favour of their long-march programme. Rafiqul criticised the ministers for issuing a threat to block their peaceful programme. “We don’t know why the ruling party leaders are staring at the opposition with wild eyes over the long-march programme. It’s not fair to do politics over every issue. All should get united irrespective of party and opinion in the movement meant for protecting the rights of the country’s people, according to UNB.
