The funnel type road -- now reduced to 60 ft wide from the original plan of 120 ft wide -- witnessed a chaotic traffic congestion right on the opening day after inauguration. The reasons are manifold. But what dismayed me most is that there is no protective fence built along the narrow footpath on both sides to prevent road crossings by the pedestrians or jaywalkers. As a result people were seen walking on the road merrily, without using the footpath, causing inconvenience to the commuters as well as serious traffic jam. The most horrifying scene was that small street children were found running between the moving vehicles and having fun!
I ,therefore, request the authorities concerned to erect a protective fence along the footpath on both sides to prevent the pedestrians from walking through the road, and thus avoid any serious accident and traffic jam. Some kind of strict administrative measures must be there to prevent the jaywalkers from walking through this narrow road instead of the designated footpath.
