Teknaf landport makes breakthrough in export trade

CHITTAGONG, Feb 11: Teknaf Landport made a breakthrough in the field of export trade beyond expectation in January last year.
Although Teknaf Landport could not achieve the monthly target as set by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), its earning made in the last month was over Tk 73.07 million.
Different export items worth around Tk 7.07 million were exported through the Teknaf Landport under 64 bills of export.
Earnings made in the month of January this year, surpassed all its previous records.
Teknaf-Mongdu border trade was formally launched on September 5 in 1995.
Since its inception, its activities were import based and export was quite nominal.
Sources said relentless efforts are under way to attract Myanmar businessmen towards the Bangladeshi goods. Concerned quarters expressed their optimism that Teknaf Landport would be able to continue the process uninterruptedly.
