Telemedicine guidelines

Monday, 7 September 2020

Physicians who provide telemedicine services would be able to charge fees from patients the way they do so during private practice. Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) has reportedly prepared telemedicine guidelines and opened it for the practitioners following higher demand for consultation with doctors from distance during the Covid-19 pandemic. The BMDC, however, did not specify the rate or amount of fees to be charged by physicians.
The guidelines have specified the types of medicines that can be prescribed and mediums of communication for taking telemedicine services. The prescription must contain signature of the physicians, according to the guidelines. It is important that common people are aware of all the provisions of the guidelines for maximising welfare of both sides.
