Teletalk launches new prepaid package

Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd, state-owned mobile phone operator, Monday launched a new prepaid package with reduced tariff rate to attract new customers.
The package styled 'Swadhin' would allow a Teletalk subscriber to talk at a flat rate of Tk 0.25 per minute all day long to two Teletalk numbers in 'Friends and Family' category operation, while the per minute call charge during the peak hour from 10:00am to 6:00pm will be Tk 0.99.
Teletalk Managing Director (MD) Aminul Hassan unveiled the package at a press conference at a local hotel saying that the prospective mobile phone subscribers would accept the new package with much enthusiasm because of its unique features.
The Swadhin Subscribers' Identification Module (SIM) card would be priced at Tk 100 while a subscriber of the existing prepaid packages of Teletalk can migrate to the new package free of cost, the Teletalk official said at the news briefing.
Moreover, the company also offers a promotional call rate for the subscribers of the new package allowing a subscriber to make call to any mobile networks at a rate of Tk 1.10 per minute during peak hour.
At the briefing Aminul Hassan said Teletalk Mobile Phone Company has a target to make 2.0 million customers from its current 1.0 million by the end of 2008.
"We have already invested Tk 5.5 billion for reaching our target within the stipulated timeframe," Aminul Hassan said.
He said Teletalk has already covered 400 upazilas of 61 districts across the country.
