Temperature rises in city

The city saw a rise in the mercury on Wednesday and there was almost no rain until 5:00pm on the day.
As the wind speed was low, the heat and humidity was unbearable for city dwellers.
The maximum temperature recorded in the city was 34.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, up from 31 degrees on Tuesday. And the humidity ranged between 63 and 86 per cent.
The wind speed was below 9.0 kph on the day, said Met Office.
The country's highest temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sylhet and the lowest of 24 degrees in Tangail.
The country's highest rainfall of 180 mm was recorded in Bogura.
The Met Office forecast that light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places over Khulna and Barishal divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
One or two places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may also witness rainfall and temperature may remain almost unchanged across the country, it added.
The sun sets in the city at 6:14pm today (Thursday) and will rise at 5:41am tomorrow (Friday).
