Ten firms grab 29pc of weekly DSE turnover

Fu-Wang Food topped the turnover chart for the third straight week to Thursday, as small-cap companies continued to dominate the transaction chart on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
The ten most-traded firms, mostly small-ones, accounted for more than 29 per cent or Tk 13.76 billion of the week's total turnover.
Fu-Wang Food topped the turnover chart again as the cautious investors opted to book profits on its shares after the recent price surge.
Due to profit booking, the company's stock price plunged 14.2 per cent in the outgoing week, becoming the week's second top loser.
The company's share price, however, soared 82 per cent in the past two weeks since took off from the floor price.
According to the DSE data, some 76.42 million Fu-Wang Food shares were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 3.10 billion, which was 6.56 per cent of the week's total turnover.
The week's total turnover stood at Tk Tk 47.35 billion, up from Tk 42.57 billion in the week before.
Another small-cap firm, Rangpur Dairy & Food Products came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 1.77 billion changing hands. The company's stock price soared 16.8 per cent to close at Tk 57 on Thursday.
Khan Brother PP Woven Bag Industries clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 1.51 billion changing hands. The low-cap company's stock closed at Tk 36.10, surging 23.21 per cent, becoming the fifth highest weekly gainer.
Lu-reef (Bangladesh) emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 1.45 billion changing hands during the week. The company's share price shed 6.46 per cent to close at Tk 36.20 on Thursday.
Sea Pearl Beach Resorts notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 1.26 billion changing hands. The company's stock closed at Tk 231.5, gaining 0.52 per cent over the previous week.
The turnover of Delta Life Insurance was Tk 1.06 billion. The life insurer's share price dropped 3.10 per cent to close at Tk 161.20 on Thursday.
Associated Oxygen featured a turnover of Tk 968 million. The company's share closed at Tk 36.50 on Thursday, shedding 0.82 per cent over the week before.
The turnover of Orion Infusion was Tk 905 million. The company's stock rose 9.16 per cent to close at Tk 380 on Thursday.
Midland Bank featured a turnover of Tk 869 million. The new generation bank's share closed at Tk 16.20, gaining 15.71 per cent.
LafargeHolcim Bangladesh also made its way to the week's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 865 million changing hands. The multinational cement maker's share shed 0.14 per cent to close at Tk 69.30 on Thursday.
