Olympic tops DSE turnover chart for second day

Ten top-traded cos clinch 31pc transaction

Ten top-traded companies accounted for more than 31 per cent transactions on the country's major bourse on Tuesday.
Olympic Industries topped the list for the second consecutive sessions.
Market insiders said investors remained active on both sides of Olympic Industries shares, to help the company grab position in the top 10 list.
According to statistics available with the DSE, about 673,015 shares of Olympic Industries were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 175 million, which was 5.44 per cent of the Dhaka bourse's total transactions.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 3.22 billion, which was 8.26 per cent lower than the previous day's turnover of Tk 3.51 billion.
The Olympic share price traded between Tk 258 and Tk 265, before closing at Tk 260.10, shedding 1.10 per cent from that of the previous session.
The company's share price hovered between Tk 245 and 313 in the last one year.
The company's earnings per share (EPS) in the October-December quarter (Q2) 2017 stood at Tk 2.14 for the October-December, 2017 against Tk 2.11 for the same period a year ago.
In six months for July-December, 2017, the company's EPS was Tk 4.39 against Tk 4.19 for the July-December period of 2016.
Apart from Olympic Industries, the most other active shares in terms of value included Grameenphone (GP), Square Pharmaceuticals, Unique Hotel & Resorts, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Keya Cosmetics, United Power, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, IFAD Autos and Apex Foods.
GP, the country's largest market-cap listed company, followed next with shares worth more than Tk 125 million changing hands. The lone listed mobile phone company's share price closed at Tk 474.70, advancing 0.51 per cent over the previous session.
Square Pharma, the second largest market-cap listed company, was the third with shares worth Tk 121 million changing hands. The pharma company's share price advanced 1.88 per cent to close at Tk 314.70.
Unique Hotel clinched the fourth spot, with shares worth Tk 120 million changing hands. The company's share price fell further by 3.71 per cent to close at Tk 59.60.
Al-Arafah Islami Bank emerged fifth with shares worth Tk 94 million changing hands. The bank's share price closed at Tk 24.20, gaining 0.83 per cent over the previous day.
Keya Cosmetics saw its shares worth Tk 83 million change hands. The company's share price fell 2.85 per cent to close at Tk 10.20.
The turnover of United Power was Tk 77 million. Each share of the company closed at Tk 155.20, losing 1.71 per cent.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals featured a turnover of Tk 75 million. The company's share price advanced 1.14 per cent to close at Tk 106.10.
The turnover of IFAD Autos was Tk 59 million. The company's share price gained 1.79 per cent to close at Tk 113.40.
Apex Foods also found its way to the top ten turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 55 million changing hands. The company's share price surged by 3.66 per cent to close at 203.50.
