Tenants want govt to strictly regulate house rent

Bharatia Parishad, a platform of tenants, in the city urged the government Saturday to make an announcement by January next restricting house owners from realising 'excessive house rents' from their tenants, reports UNB.
It also demanded the government amend the House Rent Control Act, 1991 so that the house owners cannot raise house rents at their will.
The Parishad came up with the demands at a press conference held at the Jatiya Press Club in the morning considering the country's present socioeconomic perspective.
