Tender for 4-lane roads next month

The tender for construction of 70-km four-lane Joydevpur-Chandra-Tangail-Elenga roads will be invited in May, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said on Saturday. He said the work order will be given in September after evaluating the tender papers. The minister’s comments came during his visit to the project site at Elenga in Tangail. The project will be implemented under South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC). He said the detailed design of the project has been finalized. Acquisition of 35433 hecter land is under way. Quader said the government has appointed a NGO to look after rehabilitation programme. He said the Tk.3066-crore project will is scheduled to be completed by March 2018, according to UNB.
