Tension along Habiganj border as Indian national held in retaliation

HABIGANJ, Nov 12 (UNB): Tension escalated along Dharmanagar border in Madhabpur Upazila here Wednesday as villagers held an Indian national from the border area in retaliation for picking up a Bangladeshi youth by Indian border guards.
Witnesses said BSF troops picked up Sohel Miah, 17, son of Kamrul Hasan of Alinagar village of the upazila, as he went near the border pillar No 1993 in the morning.
Outraged by the incident, some residents of Monohorpur village detained Rajendra Kumar Sharma of Gangagatipur village in Sedhai thana of Indian Tripura state from the border area along with three cows at noon.
Confirming the incident, BGB 55 commander Major Tareq said this has escalated tension along the border. A flag meeting will be held soon to resolve the crisis, he added.
