Terrorist killed in shootout

FARIDPUR, Oct 30: An alleged terrorist was killed in a shootout between his cohorts and RAB members in Sadar upazila Saturday. The deceased was identified as Gulzar Hossain (38). Acting on secret information that a gang of criminals were holding a clandestine meeting near Goalchamat area to commit a crime, a team of RAB-8 raided the area at about 3:30am. Sensing their presence the terrorists tried to flee the scene in three motorbikes but the RAB team gheraoed them near Piarpur High School. Sensing danger the terrorists opened fire on them forcing the elite force to fire back that triggered a gunfight. At one stage Gulzar was caught in the line of fire and sustained serious injuries while his cohorts managed to flee the scene. Later, RAB personnel sent him to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead. — UNB
