Terrorist killed in shootout with RAB

KERANIGANJ, Dec 6 (UNB): A terrorists was killed in a shootout between his accomplices and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members in Ainta area of South Keraniganj Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam Sardar (32), son of Ali Abbas Sardar of Sharsharampur village in Faridganj Upazila of Chandpur district.
Rafiqul Islam, who was a resident of RK Mission road in the capital, was wanted in a number of criminal cases, RAB sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-10 raided the area when Rafiqul and his cohorts were holding a clandestine meeting at about 3.45 am.
Sensing the presence of the force, the terrorists opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gun battle.
"Rafiqul was caught in the line of gunfire while trying to flee and died on the spot", said a RAB account of the shootout.
RAB members recovered a pistol and 12 rounds of bullet from the scene.
