Terrorists storm Indian police station: 5 killed

Armed terrorirst on Monday stormed a police station in India’s Punjab state, bordering Pakistan, opening fire targetting cops leaving five people dead. India tightened security on its border with neighbour Pakistan following the attack eary in the morning. Witnesses said, a gang of terrorists, dressed in army uniform, stormed the police station in Dinanagar, killing at least five people and injuring several others. The dead included three civilians and two homeguards, according to hindustantimes.com. Unconfirmed reports, however, put the death toll at eight. Officials said the army were mobilised as the ‘fidayeen' militants were holed up in Dinanagar Police Station complex. Special forces, too, were deployed and a gunbattle was on several hours after the attack began, the hindustantimes.com said in a report today.
