Text book distribution near complete in Khulna

Our Correspondent KHULNA, Dec 21: All preparations have been completed to reach the text books to the learners of primary and secondary schools from the beginning of the new year of 2012 in Khulna division. Meanwhile, 90 per cent of books have already been the sent to Khulna schools. Secondary and Higher Secondary Education office of Khulna region sources said that a total of 12.46 million at books have been allocated for 4500 of primary and secondary schools including madrasas. About 11 million books have already been reached and rest of the books will be sent within a short time. The government has given top priority on reaching the books to the learners on time in the new year. The activities have been started from the beginning of the current year. T M Zakir, Deputy Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Khulna region said that book festival will be held in every school of Khulna division on January 1, 2012. He said about ninety per cent of books have already been reached according to the requirement of 2.4 million for Khulna division. Sources said that about 12.46 million of books are required for 4500 educational institutes in Khulna division. Of them 9.28 million for primary, 1.76 million for secondary and 1.45 million for madrasas. A total of 1.54 million books have already been reached the nine Upazilas of Khulna district including Khulna city and 0.623 million for Bagerhat, 0.589 million for Chuadanga, 1.189 million for Jessore, 0.676 million for Jhenidah, 0.541 million for Magura, 0.221 million for Meherpur District and 0.473 million for Narail.
