Textile, RMG machinery expo begins Feb 4

The Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG 2015) is set to begin February 4 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city.
At the four-day expo, around 880 exhibitors from about 32 countries and regions are expected to display a wide variety of state-of-the-art textiles and garments technologies, machinery and parts, organisers said.
Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Chan Chao International Co. Ltd, and Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co. Ltd will jointly organise the 12th DTG 2015.
The expo is an ideal platform for the local exporters to come into contact with related manufacturers, regional agents and wholesalers, to source high quality machinery, equipment and materials under single roof.
It also introduces latest machines and technology to the country's whole textile and garment industry supply chain, including spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing-printing-finishing, testing, washing, embroidery, sewing and related other equipments.
The organisers further said that more than 1060 booths, spanning 16 halls, will showcase world class leading brands including Barudan, CTMTC, Fong's, Groz-Beckert, Karl Mayer, LMW, Loepfe Graf, Lonati, M&R, Oerlikon, Pai Lung, Picanol, Rieter, Santoni, Shima Seiki, Stoll, Tajima, Terrot, Thies, Toyata and Truetzschler.
The countries and regions that are set to attend the expo include Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Pakistan, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK, USA and Vietnam.
Country pavilions lead by Korea Textile Machinery Association (KOTMA), China Jiangsu Textile Machinery and Accessories Industrial Association (JSTMA) and Turkish Textile Machinery Industrialist' Association (TEMSAD) will provide impressive global experience to the visitors at the fair.
The DTG2015 will provide opportunities for raising the production capacity of textile and garment factories, helping entrepreneurs to come together to derive mutual benefits and achieve common business goals.
Development and expansion of Bangladesh's textile and garment industry, which is the most important segment of the country's manufacturing sector, is expected to be further boosted by the expo.
The event organisers called upon all concerned to visit and be a part of the most important exhibition in the country.
The event is tailored for professionals and buyers. Name cards or invitations are needed for onsite registration and entry.
Bangladesh is now the second largest RMG exporters in the world. Total export of the country crossed US$ 30.18 billion mark in the last fiscal year, and it targeted seizing 8.0 per cent share of the global apparel market by 2021, they said.
Despite being an attractive destination of textile and garment manufacturing, Bangladesh is still facing intense competition from countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka, they said.
The situation exacts increasing the value addition of products, improving the workers training, and ensuring the rights and safety of labours.
