Textile worker dies in Gazipur road crash

A female textile worker was killed as a bus ran over her on Gazipur-Mymensingh highway in Rangila Bazar area of Sreepur upazila on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Ranu Akhter, 25, worker of a textile mill. Police said the speeding bus hit Ranu in the area around 6:30 while she was returning home from her workplace after her night duty, leaving her dead on the spot. As the news of her death spread around, fellow workers took to the streets and put up barricade on the highway around 7:00am. Traffic on the busy highway remained halted for an hour following the blockade, according to a news agency.
