The AL govt should not do what the BNP-led alliance govt. did

Thursday, 14 May 2009

PRIME Minister Sheikh Hasina told in a public meeting held at the Paltan Maidan on May 01, that the BNP-led government had plundered Tk. 200 billion (20,000 crore) in the name of generating electricity.
How can it be correct when total allocation for the power sector was Tk. 140.46 billion (14046.19 crore) for the period 2001-2006 while
they spent Tk 135.12 billion (13,512 crore). Again much of the allocation was spent in the revenue head.
We can mention that the BNP regime achieved successes in stopping copying in public examinations, banning the use of polythene bags. They also cut down pollution in the capital city. Awami League loves to talk more, it seems.
As the people felt unhappy with the BNP, they voted for Awami League this time. It was more negative voting than an expression of love for the Awami League. Awami League should work for the betterment of the people to win their love.
But if the AL government does what BNP did, the people would opt for the alternative, the next time. No political party should forget that the people are the source of power.
