The chaos at Mawa ferry ghat

We talk of the terrible traffic jams in city. Graphic details of this extremely frustrating of phenomena are shown on television, described over the radio and appear in newspapers every day. However, the true horror of what can happen when a whole system breaks down, in this case the entire machinery running the ferries, can only be experienced first-hand if you happen to be trying to get across the river Padma from the Mawa ferry ghat before Eid ul Fitr, specially the last few days leading to the festival.
Thousands of vehicles, large and small, trucks, buses or private cars - all are stranded in a mother-of-all snarl. The thousands of the stranded people have no services outside their vehicles. Sure there are many restaurants but food is sometimes the least among the worries of the passengers as many fast. There are those who need to go to the toilet and the toilet facilities are among the rarest of the rare in such a place where normally one doesn't spend much time. And it compounds matters when the female passengers have to visit the washroom.
And finally, you do not know how long you'll have to wait - 2 hours or 6 hours!
The people who are responsible for the chaos at the ferry ghat should at least be censured.
