The deadly 'molom' party

Thursday, 3 January 2008

THE law and order situation is not bad considering the fact that it was pretty bad a couple of years ago. The 'mastans' in different neighbourhoods, the godfathers, the so called 'cadres' etc., they are on the run. The muggers operate in particular places at particular times and if one is not careful one can get 'hit' at any busy place.
However, the worse of the lot are the 'molom' parties. These criminals don't care if you lose your life. They hit you with chemicals that will make you unconscious, even cause your demise, and then they will make off with whatever you have and leave you at the mercy of the street.
There are many kinds of these 'molom' parties. There are those who attack you when you are unaware. There are those that invite you to tea or snacks which are loaded with immobilising chemicals. Sometimes the auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers are involved.
The question is, we get news that the ringleaders are getting caught, so how come the rest of them are not? Are the law enforcers doing anything to curb this rising phenomena? We would appeal to the law enforcement agencies to go after these nefarious people and bring them to book at the earliest. Otherwise those criminals will think they are safe from the law and continue their 'business' unabated.
