Ishmam Raidah Rahman
I looked into her deep blue azure eyes. They were sparkling and twinkling and looked full of energy. Her porcelain skin was glowing under the warm bright sun. Her full lips were coated in a warm red glow and were shining. Her silvery hair was dancing with the breeze and she looked even more beautiful when the strands got caught in her eyes. She looked so carefree as if there was no burden on her shoulders despite her whole world falling down on her. She moved with such elegance, grace and beauty, it was impossible to resist her and her amazing persona. She seemed perfect but she was far from perfect and yes, her imperfectness made her perfect and herself.
I first saw her on a perfect spring day walking with her head up high and taking confident strides letting her hair be blown by the wind. Her vision was dangerously breathtaking and made me shiver from head to toe.
What was wrong with me? I was the prince and she was a slave. It was an absolutely appalling thought. But her grace and appeal made her seem like some princess from a far away kingdom. She was walking past me, her hand in shackles and she gave me a fearless look with her head held high. I would've told her to look down but I felt mesmerized by her. Later that day I asked my councilor to find that girl and to find out her name but it was quite an impossible task as there were thousands and thousands of slaves. I was walking by the garden that day and I saw her, sitting on the grass looking like an innocent angel clipping the grass. My heart started racing and I went to her. She looked at me and I felt as if I could dive into her eyes' deep blue sea.
"What is your name?" I asked.
"Mesmara but they call me Mara." She answered her voice smooth as silk. "Who are they?" I ask.
She remains silent.
"Your captors?" I ask again.
"If you know then why do you ask?" She replied with her voice filled with contempt.
"I didn't know, I guessed." I say back defensively.
"What do you want from me?"
"Nothing, only..."
"Get away! I am working!" She cuts me and says rudely.
If this was a normal situation I would've just told the guards to take her to the gallows but she was different and it seemed like love but then again I couldn't admit it to myself as it was so shameful. I just started walking away dumbfounded.
"Walt! Who are you?" She asked at last.
I turned my head around and my heart started beating rapidly. I felt like a school boy falling in puppy love.
"The Prince of Syracuse," I answered.
Her eyes became wide and they filled up with tears and she gave in and started weeping. My heart was shattering and breaking into million pieces.
"Please don't cry, I didn't mean to frighten you, fair maiden." I said pleadingly. "I am so sorry, my lord, for being impeccably rude to you," she said.
"No, no it is perfectly alright," I said.
I was so blinded by her that I totally forgot that she was a slave and went and sat beside her.
"Why are you sitting beside me, you know I am a slave, right?" She asked. "It doesn't matter because you are more like a princess." I replied honestly. "You are too kind, my lord..." She finally said after a moment of silence.
Our conversation just flowed and flowed and we couldn't stop talking. It was like we were a match made in heaven. She told me about her life and how she was captured. She told me she used to work at the palace in Persia for the Princess of Persia. She told me she lost her lover in a battle between my kingdom and her kingdom and she was still tending to her wounds. I felt bad and sorry for her and her fragility made me love her more. The next day she confessed her love for me and was scared that 1 was going to execute her for confessing but actually 1 was overjoyed. She told me she had something to show me. 1 was lost in a world of happiness and didn't know what would hit me next. She led me through a black gate and inside was high walls of moss. 1 never even knew that this place existed in the kingdom. It was like a secret garden. She led me through the maze as if she had the path memorized and 1 just blindly followed her. We arrived at the center of the maze and in the middle was a huge giant semi-transparent black orb. It looked as if if I touch it then my hands will go through it. It didn't seem solid but actually it was. It was the most magical and the strangest thing 1 ever saw. It was shimmering under the overhead sun.
"Where have you brought me?" 1 asked
"I build this just because of you," she answered.
"You built it? impossible!" 1 said in awe.
"Nothing is impossible!" She said with her voice filled not with love but hatred. "Why are you getting so angry?" 1 asked innocently.
She started laughing and said, "You want to know why? Well, where do I even start?
Because of you 1 lost my lover, my kingdom and my family! Because of you 1 am not princess of Persia anymore. Because of you 1 cannot use my full powers as 1 am a slave"
"Powers?" 1 asked in a very confused voice.
"Yes, power... You haven't realised yet, have you? I have the power to mesmerize anyone which I have inherited from my ancestors who were powerful warlocks and sorcerers in their days and when warlocks and sorcerers started to be treated as evil beings. Their powers were kept secret from the world and so is mine. My lover was the only one whom I couldn't mesmerise and he was the only one whom I truly loved and you took him away from me. You killed him in front me. My anger for you has been building up day by day and now it is so much that I want to kill you. 1 love to hate you and you will get what you deserve. 1 knew from the beginning that you were the prince so I made you fall into my trap and enter the maze of my false love. "
"Please, Mara, spare me. I was ordered to demolish your kingdom. Don't leave me in this maze to die. I would rather die fast. Kill me now!" I said.
. "Kill you now and take the fun out of it but if you really want that as your last wish before you die then be sure," she said mockingly and icily with on evil smile pasted on her face like a lunatic.
I looked into her captivating eyes and started wondering how could this happen to me. I was led into this maze of false love when actually I wasn't in love with her. She looked at me and gave me a dagger with a wicked smile as if knowing that I won't kill her. I took it and plunged it into my heart knowing it's better to die right then than dying painfully and slowly. I managed to enter the maze but couldn't find my way out of the maze --the maze of her heart.
I looked into her deep blue azure eyes. They were sparkling and twinkling and looked full of energy. Her porcelain skin was glowing under the warm bright sun.
