The footsteps of winter
Monday, 27 October 2014
Now we are inching towards welcoming the winter and it is the most favourite season of the dwellers in Dhaka city, as during this time we do not experience any load shedding, sweltering heat or water shortage. So the nagging traffic jam seems more tolerable. The four months from November to February are much more comfortable.
With the advent of winter fresh, vegetables and rice cakes are available aplenty. It is time for picnicking and we often see people travel far away from the maddening hustle and bustle of the city with their loved ones.
I love a winter morning as it is very calm and soothing. People become lazy during the period due to dense fog. Sometimes the morning seems to prolong itself till noon. Our country is a shining example of the variety of seasons. Each season has its own charm and beauty. During winter the nights become longer and the days are shorter.
Sunlight becomes mild and soothing for our skin and body. Winter is pleasant for Bangladesh and it is an eagerly awaited season. Many of my expatriate friends come to Dhaka during the winter and I have a great time with them.
Tourist spots like those in Cox's Bazar get abuzz with tourists from home and abroad. In winter many migratory birds visit our country.
So, we get a rare opportunity to see them and enjoy their exotic beauty. Winter really brings about a welcome change in our day-to-day life.
