MOCK tests, popularly known as 'model tests', favourite in recent years especially in the urban areas of Bangladesh. Be it for primary school admission, primary scholarship examinations, SSC, HSC, O level, A level, university admission or even semester final or year final exams, appearing in mock tests have been proved to be very helpful. It helps students in many ways in preparing for the real life examination environment.
When one appears in mock tests, it helps one to find one's strengths and weaknesses and one can take measures accordingly when there is still time in hand. Through such exercise, students understand which subject they are already good in and which ones they really need to work hard.
The greatest benefit of taking mock tests is that students can master time management. By appearing through several tests, students can understand what type of answers are taking much time and what type of answers are taking less time and they can be cautious in real exam accordingly.
Students can arrange mock tests on their own. It would be very wise if students make a schedule of mock tests at the beginning of the semester/year and remain strict to it. They should try heart and soul to follow the schedule and should not show 'excuses' for not appearing in the tests. If they can put consistent efforts with all their hassles or problems in personal life, they will surely have a very good preparation for the exam and this will help them sit for the real exam confidently and they will come out successfully.
When students are arranging mock tests on their own, they can take help of someone else in setting question paper or can take help of test papers available in the market. After they appear in the mock tests, they can give the scripts to someone they feel suitable for checking, at the same time they can check the script themselves. This double checking will help them assess their preparation for the final exam better.
While appearing in mock tests, students need to think that they are appearing in the real examination. They should take exactly same preparation what they would take for real examination. Pencils, pens, highlighters-all should be available and should be used properly.
Appearing in mock tests will help students reduce tension which is very common amongst students and for which productivity in the exam hall decreases to a great extent. When students will be tension free in the exam, they will be able to appear the exam more effectively and in a relaxed manner. The memory of exam will be a sweet one for them.
Having a schedule of model tests is like setting several targets in the semester/ year. Targets always help anyone achieve goals in life. Appearing in mock tests can bring enjoyment in students' study habit and will help them reach their goals.
