MANY subjects do not have decided characteristics in them, as for example we can take literature and language. But among the subjects which are extremely decided and stable, my first priority would be mathematics. And if the shoe fits, one should wear it and a person who can be stable and decided about the laws and formulae of mathematics, he or she will score bingo as a math teacher.
It is true that the features of mathematics are decided, and so is the way from Russia to Korea. But to reach to that decided destination, the number of routes is not one. Some would like to travel via picking up stoppages while others would definitely like a direct route. And maths teachers should understand this completely. They need to go through every possible method of solving a particular problem. In this way, every student can succeed in progressing with each math in the particular exercise as the policy of solving them is both known and similar. Moreover, no matter how much repetition is required, the teacher should always adopt the simplest ways of solving a problem.
Maths teachers should welcome students with any problem. Questions that might trigger out unsure responses or confusion should be raised aloud by the teacher. Teachers should create such an amiable personality for themselves that would squeeze out even the silliest question from the students. Complete clarification is of utmost importance in mathematics. And for that students should leave no ambiguities while practicing.
Practice makes one perfect! And this perfection can be determined highly by maths teachers. Math teachers need to be very liberal in giving out loads of exercises for homework as, if students won't practice, they won't be knowing where their problem is. Class tests and group discussions should be held regularly. Teachers must take part in solving the problems with the students and each trouble faced should also be discussed out. Teachers should also show and explain the origin and formation of formulae, from what they came and how they were formed.
Teaching is a process highly meant to be answering. And teachers who will succeed in doing this are surely going to be good teachers.
