CHITTAGONG, Dec 18 (BSS): Dense fog and cold spell partially paralysed the normal life in Chittagong and its adjacent areas with massive disruption of air, water and road communications causing untold sufferings to thousands of people.
Chittagong Port authority source said that due to thick fog plying of all kinds of ships in port channel remained suspended since last night.
The port authority was prompted to impose a ban on movements of all vessels until 2.30 pm Sunday to and from Chittagong owning to poor visibility.
Chittagong Airport source said that dense fog disrupted flight operations at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport (CSAIA).
CSAIA officials also said that the flight schedule of domestic and international flights were rescheduled by one to three hours' delay due to dense fog.
One regular Bangladesh Biman flight scheduled to leave from the airport at 10:40 am it could not leave before 12:00 noon.
Besides, four international flights had to make rescheduled landing at CSAIA as those could not land at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka due to dense fog.
Many of the domestic flights including Regent Airways and United Airways have been rescheduled or delayed for two hours owing to dense fog, airport sources said.
However, operation flight and vessel movements returned to normal at around 1:00 pm when the fog started to vanish.
