Third Asian Grand Prix begins May 27

Bangladeshi archers face a daunting task as there are expectations among the local fans to put up impressive display in the 3rd Asian Grand Prix and First AsianYouth Archery Championship, which begins on May 27 at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP), reports BSS. Bangladesh Archery Federation arranged a press conference at Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA)'s Dutch Bangla Bank Auditorium Monday to provide details of the competition. Bangladesh Archery Federation President Lt Gen M Mainul Islam, General Secretary Razibuddin Ahmed Chapol and Grameenphone chief communication officer Kazi Maniul Kabir spoke on the occasion. A five-day long meet is expected to feature with 122 archers including 37 women and girls from 14 nations fighting it out for 15 gold, 15 silver and 15 bronze medals at stake. Hosts Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Tajikistan and Georgia will take part in Recurve bow and Compound bow in the third edition grand prix this year, while only five countries Bangladesh, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Malaysia will compete in Recurve bow event in the first edition of the youth championship. Bangladesh had earlier staged the Asian Grand Prix in 2009 and South Asian Archery Championship in 2006.
